Former Alabama quarterback and political newcomer AJ McCarron led five Republican candidates for lieutenant governor in fundraising in November.

McCarron, a Mobile native who led the Crimson Tide to national championships in 2011 and 2012, raised $105,760 for the month, his first full month of fundraising since announcing his first run for office in October.

Secretary of State Wes Allen continues to hold a wide lead in fundraising for the entire campaign. Allen raised $75,550 in November and ended the month with almost $1 million on hand.

Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate raised $15,610 in November, ranks second in money raised for the campaign, and has $532,728 on hand.

The race is for an open seat.
