A SCOTTISH LGBT charity has said it is "deeply disappointed" by Girlguiding's decision to ban transgender girls from joining.

The organisation confirmed on Tuesday that it had made the "difficult decision" to limit its membership to "girls and young women".

It comes after the Supreme Court's ruling in April that the words "woman" and "sex" in the Equality Act 2010 refer to a biological woman and biological sex.

The organisation insisted it remains “committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect, particularly those from marginalised groups that have felt the biggest impact of this decision”.
