MARION, Ohio — A man is dead after an overnight fire at a high-rise apartment complex in Marion on Wednesday.
Around 2:25 a.m., the Marion Fire Department received a call about a fire alarm at The Marion Rotary Towers, located at 400 Delaware Ave.
The assistant chief arrived at the building and found several smoke alarms activated on the third floor and heavy smoke coming from an apartment door. Additional units were called to the fire to assist.
The fire department said crews found an elderly man unresponsive in a wheelchair. The man was removed from the apartment and was given to medics. He was pronounced dead.
According to the fire department, crews extinguished a fire in a room and overhauled the area.
