LANSING, MI – A man will spend decades in prison for a double murder in which he shot and killed his on-again, off-again girlfriend and her cousin.
Dennis Joshua Whaley appeared Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Ingham County Circuit Court and was sentenced to a minimum of 33 years – maximum 50 years – on two counts of second-degree murder, court records show.
Whaley, 53, was convicted at trial of fatally shooting Christine Cambric and Joshua McKenzie, who were not armed, with an assault-style rifle on April 18, 2024, the Lansing State Journal reported.
“These victims were helpless and came to a merciless death,” Judge Wanda Stokes said at sentencing.
