DES MOINES, Iowa — Attorney General Brenna Bird announced a significant legal victory against Travis Broughton and his Omaha-based companies, Omaha Stem Cells, LLC and Regenerative Medicine and Anti-Aging Institutes of Omaha, LLC.
Bird says The court determined that Broughton and his companies misled Iowans by marketing unproven umbilical cord stem cell injections as treatments.
Broughton and his companies must reimburse 76 Iowans a total of $810,477. Additionally, they face penalties totaling $180,000 for legal violations, including enhanced penalties for targeting older Iowans. The court also banned Broughton and his companies from similar activities in Iowa and ordered them to cover the state's legal fees.
