NEW YORK — Jamie Lee Curtis turned the tables during her appearance on NBC’s “Today” show on Tuesday when she asked anchor Craig Melvin about the meaning behind his blue stud earring . The Oscar-winning actress grew emotional as Melvin explained the accessory was a promise he made to his daughter years ago.

Melvin shared that his daughter Sybil, now 9, had second thoughts about getting her ears pierced. To encourage her, he spontaneously agreed to pierce his own ear if she went through with it. “If I do it, will you do it?” he recalled asking her. She said yes, and the father-daughter duo got their piercings together. Curtis, visibly moved, exclaimed, “That’s gorgeous!”
