Investigators found a gun in the vehicle a man was in when he was shot by a Greeley police officer following a traffic stop last week.

The gun was on the driver’s seat near the center console of the vehicle in which 18-year-old Aden Jeannoutot was sitting in the passenger seat, according to a Tuesday update by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office .

The shooting happened at 3:50 p.m., Nov. 26, when the officer pulled over a vehicle near 16th Street and 21st Avenue, the initial release by the 19th Judicial District states.

The woman driving the vehicle got out, but Jeannoutot, who was wanted on an Idaho warrant for lewd acts with a minor, stayed in the passenger seat.
