(WAND) - An update has been released about a major shredded cheese recall impacting bags of cheese sold at Aldi, Target, and Walmart.
The Federal Drug Administration said more than 260,000 cases of the products may contain metal fragments.
This recall comes after hundreds of gallons of Prairie Farms milk sold at grocery stores in Illinois and Wisconsin were also recalled. The milk was recalled due to the potential contamination with a food-grade cleaning agent.
The cheese recall started by Great Lakes Cheese Co. on October 3, 2025. On December 1, the FDA classified the recall under "Class II," which means consuming it could temporarily cause "adverse but treatable or reversible health consequences."
The cheese was sold in more than 30 states, including Illinois.
