WEBSTER SPRINGS, W.Va. — The family of West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom is asking that in lieu of flowers to remember her life, donations be made to two organizations.

A post on the Facebook page of the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs said the family is asking donations in Sarah’s memory be made to the Nicholas County Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Beckstrom, 20, and fellow West Virginia National Guard member Andrew Wolfe, 24, were shot last Wednesday while they were patrolling the streets of Washington, D.C. Beckstrom died on Thanksgiving Day. Wolfe remains heavily sedated in critical condition.
