A large section of the Metro yellow line will close this weekend for engineering works. The closure is to allow for the renewal of sleepers on the tracks between Shiremoor and West Monkseaton stations.

Therefore, there will be no trains between Benton and Wallsend in both directions after 9pm on Friday, December 5 until the start of service on Monday, December 8. The last train from Benton to Wallsend on Friday, December 5 will be at 9.10pm and the last train from Wallsend towards Benton will be 9.23pm.

A replacement bus service, the number 900, will run to all stops between Four Lane Ends and Wallsend in both directions. Nexus advised passengers to leave
