Kansas City Chiefs rookie left tackle Josh Simmons underwent surgery on his wrist and is headed to injured reserve, head coach Andy Reid announced Wednesday.
Simmons appeared to sustain the injury last Thursday after running back Kareem Hunt’s attempted chip block caught his teammate’s wrist and pinned it into a Dallas Cowboys defender.
“Josh Simmons ended up having surgery on that wrist for a fracture and a dislocation,” Reid said. “He’ll go on to IR, and then we’ll just see about the recovery on that, where it goes from there.”
The move will sideline Simmons at least for the next four weeks. The Chiefs (6-6) have five games left in the regular season.
Wanya Morris or Jaylon Moore likely will start at left tackle in place of Simmons, who started all eight games in which he has played
