DENVER (KKTV) - On Wednesday, the Colorado Rockies announced Josh Byrnes has been named general manager.

In the role, the team said Byrnes will oversee all aspects of baseball operations while reporting to President of Baseball Operations Paul DePodesta.

“I’m incredibly excited to be able to bring Josh into our group,” said DePodesta. “Few executives in baseball share his combination of intellectual curiosity, breadth of experience, and on-field successes. We are extremely fortunate to add him, as he immediately strengthens our entire baseball operation.”

Before the Rockies, the team said Byrnes spent 11 seasons as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ senior vice president of baseball operations. In that role, he supervised the Dodgers’ scouting and player development while helping the team to thre
