An arctic front will sweep through New Jersey Thursday afternoon, ushering in a frigid air mass that could challenge record low temperatures Friday morning across much of the state.
The front will be accompanied by gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph, forecasters said.
While the frontal passage should remain mostly dry, a few snow showers are possible along and north of Interstate 80, the National Weather Service said.
The main impact will be plummeting temperatures Thursday night, with lows dropping into the teens across most areas of New Jersey and single digits possible in northwestern sections.
Wind chills could fall into the single digits inland and teens elsewhere.
Friday will mark one of the coldest days of the season, with high temperatures struggling to reach the low to mid-30s i
