WASHINGTON — It's the most wonderful time of the year, and officials are lighting up Downtown DC. The National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony kicks off Thursday evening. That means road closures and traffic. Most of us are used to the congestion; after all, the District was ranked No. 19 on Inrix's Global Traffic Scorecard report.

So here's a list of roads to avoid on Dec. 4.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

17th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue, NW

Constitution Avenue from 14th Street to 18th Street, NW

15th Street from F Street to Constitution Avenue, NW

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.:

17th Street from H Street, NW to Independence Avenue, SW
