PORTLAND, Ore. — On the steps of Portland City Hall on Wednesday, a number of Portlanders rallied for a change in the city's response to homelessness . They carried a petition signed by 2,000 people, calling on city leaders to invest in a long-term plan containing more affordable housing, rent assistance and wrap-around services.
"We believe that everyone, no matter your income, (should have) access to a safe and stable home," said Molly Hogan of the Welcome Home Coalition. "We are going to deliver this petition to every council office!"
