LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - As the temperatures get colder your list of yard work might grow longer. In addition to raking leaves or preparing plants for winter, it’s also the best time to prune and trim trees.

“I wanted to get some limbs trimmed because I didn’t want them to fall and break on my house, especially if we have an ice storm coming up,” said Diboll resident Mary Grider.

Grider trims her trees every two to three years. This time she trimmed the trees surrounding her home as a precaution.

“I’ve had some pretty big limbs fall, but luckily it hasn’t caused any damage to my home,” Grider said.
