A major update has been issued for people on three benefits who face an "assessment". The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) minister Sir Stephen Timms replied to SNP MP Chris Law in the Commons this week.
Mr Law asked the DWP a question about Work Capability Assessments (WCA), quizzing Mr Timms on how many existing claimants waiting for a WCA with provider Maximus had had at least one scheduled assessment cancelled.
He also asked how much had had at least two cancelled, and how many had had more than two appointments cancelled. Mr Timms said that as of October 31, some 74,000 new benefit claimants and 40,000 existing claimants were awaiting a WCA with Maximus.
