KEIR Starmer is expected to award dozens of new peerages in a bid to strengthen Labour’s hand in the upper chamber, according to reports.
The Prime Minister is planning to publish a list of around 25 new peers before Christmas, despite Labour previously promising to abolish the unelected chamber, according to The Guardian.
The 25 new peers will join the 30 members of the House of Lords who were on Starmer’s list last December as Labour aimed to stuff the upper chamber with Labour peers in an attempt to prevent the Tories , who dominate the Lords, from holding up Government legislation.
The Conservatives are also expected to appoint a handful of new peers.
