The SNP have reported a tiny £2,584 in cash donations this year on the eve of a pivotal Holyrood election. John Swinney’s party has benefited from over £500,000 of public funds at a time when they had to lay off staff . ‌

The Nationalists last year revealed plans to cut workers at their party headquarters in order to “protect the long-term finances”. According to the Electoral Commission, donations from individuals and companies have been negligible in 2025. ‌

They reported one cash donation of £2,584 in 2025 and non-cash donations of £7,200. The overwhelming majority of registrable support came in the form of public funds - £509,301 - from sources such as Short Money at Westminster. ‌
