Heavy rain is set to batter Greater Manchester before the weekend - but a change could be just around the corner. Forecasters at the Met Office expect temperatures to rise in the coming days, with mild nights and sunny intervals expected early next week.

The region is expected to see heavy rain throughout this morning and afternoon, before easing to spells of light rain throughout the evening. Friday should see a dry start, with sunny intervals in the morning, before heavy rain returns by late afternoon.

Temperatures will be similar across both days, with highs of 8C in the region and overnight lows of 2C tonight. However, temperatures will begin to climb over the weekend, before milder conditions continue next week.
