WASPI women have issued a major update over the "government's decision" in their fight for £2,950 payouts from the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ). WASPI say Labour Party ministers have "agreed to a root and branch reconsideration of its response to the Ombudsman’s report".
The Ombdusman report ruled on the maladministration and injustice suffered by WASPI women last spring - and recommended payouts worth £2,950 as compensation. Now, Labour will look at "how that injustice should be remedied", WASPI say.
It has also committed to the 12-week timetable the campaigners had urged for. The campaign said: "None of this would have happened without the solidarity. commitment and support through donations of WASPI women and their allies. Thank you."
