The DVLA has been told to implement new "mandatory" eye tests for ALL ages - with sight reporting too. A petition on the Parliamentary website has called on both the DVLA and the Labour Party government to take action.

The petition urges: " DVLA to implement mandatory eye tests for all drivers & sight reporting." It adss: " DVLA to implement mandatory eye tests for drivers for all ages. We believe that any vision impairment such as short or long sightedness should be something which drivers are mandated to report, just like other health conditions which may affect their vision.

"There have been some suggestions that the government might propose that those who are 70 and above should have their eyes tested regularly, but we think that’s prejudice and failing the motorist.
