Emergency services were scrambled to a meeting moments after experiencing the Silverdale earthquake for themselves. A 3.3-magnitude earthquake hit the North West at 11.23pm on Wednesday night (December 3).
The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed the 3km-deep earthquake struck off the coast of Silverdale, near Carnforth in Lancashire . Its effects were mostly felt in areas such as Carnforth, Morecambe and Heysham - while some movement was felt as far out as Ulverston, Kendal and Blackpool.
Lancashire firefighters say they attended an emergency meeting with police and paramedics in the early hours of this morning (Thursday) as part of the response. A police helicopter also searched for signs of damage.
