SPRINGDALE, Pa. — The site of the former Cheswick Generating Station, one of Pennsylvania’s last coal-fired power plants, has been purchased for $14.3 million by a development company planning a major data center and artificial intelligence (AI) hyper-scaling facility.

Allegheny County land records show Cheswick Plant Environmental Redevelopment, a holding company of Charah Environmental, sold the 47.2-acre property to Allegheny DC Property Co. LLC on Nov. 19. Charah, which specializes in environmental remediation, had spent several years cleaning and clearing the site following the plant’s closure in March 2022.
