A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Thursday at 9:58 a.m. for heavy snow until 11 a.m. for Essex County.

"At 9:57 a.m., heavy snow was reported along a line extending from near Morristown to near Hancock to near Orwell. Movement was southeast at 10 mph," explains the weather service. "Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Low visibility may pose a hazard to motorists. Accumulating snow will make travel difficult."

Locations impacted by the alert include Barre, Rutland, Montpelier, Middlebury, Morrisville, Braintree Hill, Cambridge, Killington, Salisbury, Rutland City, Waterbury Village, Orwell, Worcester, Middlesex, Ira, Shoreham, Ripton, Morrisville Village, Woodbury and Williamstown. This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 23 and 75.
