WASHINGTON — Six people are without a place to live after a fire at an apartment building in Southwest D.C. on Thursday morning. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Firefighters were called to the unit block of Galveston Place for a report of a working fire. When crews arrived on scene, they found flames and smoke pouring from the two-story building. Flames were visible on the first floor and extended to the second floor.
Video posted to social media by DC Fire and EMS showed what the fire looked like on arrival.
Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control and get residents to safety. In total, six people were displaced, according to the fire department. Despite the apparent intensity of the blaze, no injuries were reported. Red Cross officials are working
