WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Carol Miller, R-W.Va., introduced legislation to permanently authorize a federal program that provides substance use disorder and opioid treatment resources specifically for the nation's rural communities.
The RCORP Authorization Act would formally establish the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program under the Public Health Service Act. Currently, the program is funded annually, and advocates say authorization is crucial to provide stability and predictability for rural areas struggling with the opioid crisis.
