OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The official White House Christmas tree was unveiled this week, and one Nebraskan has her fingerprints all over it — with purpose.
“That is the official tree of The White House and it’s also known as the Gold Star Tree,” said Jenni Page of Beaver Lake, Nebraska.
Out of 12,000 applicants, Page was one of just 146 people chosen to serve as a White House volunteer Christmas decorator.
Personal ornament carries special meaning
Each state has its own ornament on the tree.
“Those are 3D printed ornaments,” Page said. “Obviously, we left a piece of us in The White House.”
But one handwritten decoration carries all the weight: A gold star with “Love Never Ends. Daegan W. Page.”
“There are experiences in life that change you and this is one of them,” Page said.
