Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) just offered some of her sharpest criticism yet against House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).
In an interview published Wednesday by The Wall Street Journal, Stefanik — a staunch ally of President Donald Trump — tore into Johnson, describing him as an ineffective leader who could be booted from his post at any moment.
“He certainly wouldn’t have the votes to be speaker if there was a roll-call vote tomorrow,” Stefanik, who is running for governor of New York, told the outlet in comments Tuesday night. “I believe that the majority of Republicans would vote for new leadership. It’s that widespread.”
“It’s all bubbling over,” she added.
