BURTON, MI -- A woman who died in a weekend house fire has been identified by fire officials.
Firefighters were called out at 2:39 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, for a residential house fire in the 3000 block of Genesee Road.
Burton Fire Chief Kirk Wilkinson said there no flames visible when crews arrived at the scene.
“A short time later flames became visible from the basement and first floor,” he said.
It took firefighters more than two hours to put the fire out.
“It was just the conditions in the house with the fire and she had quite a bit of belongings,” said Wilkinson, adding, “We believe the fire was burning for quite some time before anybody noticed it.”
The body of 72-year-old Linda Brownleaf was found by firefighters in the kitchen. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
