(CNN) - In Minnesota, the former police officer convicted of murder in the death of George Floyd is seeking a new trial.
Derek Chauvin was found guilty of state and federal charges related to Floyd’s death.
He has served five years of a 22-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
Chauvin’s attorney filed court documents asking that three criminal convictions be vacated and a new trial ordered.
The filing accuses prosecutors of misconduct and argues that false testimony from expert witnesses deprived Chauvin of a fair trial.
He was recorded with his knee on Floyd’s neck as Floyd was restrained on the ground – a technique Chauvin claims was part of his officer training.
The recording also captured Floyd saying he could not breathe.
