BELLMEAD, Texas (KWTX) - A man who has spent nearly two decades serving Bellmead as a firefighter has a new battle of his own after doctors discovered a brain tumor, but he won’t be in the fight alone as the community he’s protected is now rallying around him.
Justin Shaw, 39, of Riesel, has worked at the City of Bellmead Fire Department for 19 years and has spent the last 15 as a Lieutenant.
He is an active youth coach and family man and said discovering a life-changing tumor came as a complete shock to him.
“Never had a migraine so figured that’s what I was experiencing,” Justin said. “They found a mass on my front left lobe of my brain.”
While doctor’s believe the tumor, estimated to be the size of a golf ball is benign, they won’t know for sure until surgery.
