Dozens of people protesting a federal immigration enforcement operation in New Orleans, which entered its second day, were forcefully removed from a City Council meeting Thursday.

Protesters held signs that read “No Collaboration with ICE/DHS" and begged city leaders to create “ICE-Free zones." But with protesters refused to yield their time at the podium, city council members briefly suspended the meeting and left the room.

As protesters chanted “Shame,” city police officers ordered them to leave the building. While some protesters complied, multiple others were pushed or physically carried out by officers.

As police locked the gates to the building and the City Council meeting resumed inside, protesters could be heard outside chanting, “We’ll be back.”
