NEW ORLEANS — More than a dozen people protested at City Hall Thursday morning during a council meeting.
Council members went into recess as protesters held up signs chanting "shut it down", opposed to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) activity. The New Orleans Police Department was there and officers are seen forcing people to leave.
The rally started just before 10 a.m. when council members immediately noticed the protesters sitting and addressed their right to be inside. President JP Morrell informed the protesters that public comment was only available for what was on the agenda.
