Israel is reportedly allowed to remain in the Eurovision Song Contest next year, after controversy in 2024 and 2025. Organisers and participating countries today (December 4) debated on the way the government conducted its war with Gaza and allegations of unfair voting practices, but sources claim they eventually ruled to let Israel compete again.
The Netherlands has officially withdrawn from next year's competition, issuing a statement on social media. More countries including Spain, Ireland and Slovenia have all vowed to also boycott the competition if Israel returns. On the flip side, Germany said it would not compete if Israel was excluded. It comes as the contest has been faced with anti-Israel protests in recent years.
