NATIONWIDE — THE U.S. FOOD & DRUG ADMINISTRATION HAS ELEVATED A VOLUNTARY RECALL ON CERTAIN SHREDDED CHEESES AND CHEESE BLENDS AFTER METAL FRAGMENTS were found inside the packaging.

More than 260,000 cases of shredded cheese, as of Dec. 4 representing more than a million bags of shredded mozzarella and of pizza blends have been recalled. Included in the recall are cheese-blend packages containing asiago, non-smoked provolone and parmesan blends. The recall affects Great Lakes Cheese products distributed to several retail chains with private labels, including Target, Walmart, Aldi and Publix. It impacts 31 states, including New York.
