BOROUGH HALL — BROOKLYN BOROUGH PRESIDENT ANTONIO REYNOSO HAS ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL RUN FOR CONGRESS, to succeed Rep. Nydia Velázquez, who is retiring after next year’s midterm elections, according to the New York Times and other news outlets .
Reynoso, who was first elected as Borough President in 2021 and was re-elected last month with 82.8% of the vote , previously served in the City Council (34th District), representing several of the Northern Brooklyn neighborhoods in Rep. Velázquez’s 7th Congressional District. The two are known to be close, and Velázquez has mentored him.
