Prince George’s County police announced they have arrested a suspect in Wednesday’s shooting of a man in the food court at the MGM National Harbor.

Benjamin Williams, 22, of Fort Washington was arrested on Thursday. He is facing first- and second-degree murder charges for the killing of 23-year old Darnell Hawkins Jr.

Prince George’s County police Chief George Nader credited the casino’s video surveillance system for helping them find the suspect.

The shooting happened just before noon on Wednesday. Police found Hawkins Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

Detectives believe Williams and Hawkins Jr. knew each other, but are still investigating the motive.

Williams is currently being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
