UPDATE: Authorities say all three people killed in Thursday’s wrong-way crash on I-75 in Whitfield County were inside the suspect’s vehicle, and investigators are still working to learn more about the driver.
As of now, all lanes have reopened on I-75.
According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened when the driver was seen weaving in and out of traffic and speeding. Deputies believe the driver's behavior indicated impairment. A deputy attempted to stop the driver after the driver sped past on I-75.
Deputies say the driver then got back into his vehicle during the stop, made a U-turn on the interstate, and began traveling north in the southbound lanes. The car collided head-on with a semi, and a third vehicle was also struck.
