Two cheeses that were sold nationally are being recalled by the United States Food and Drug Administration ; one for possible metal fragments and another for the presence of Listeria, found after testing.

More than 250,000 cases of shredded cheese manufactured by the Great Lakes Cheese Co. were pulled from shelves in October of this year. That recall is still active.

The cheese was sold under private-label names at Target, Publix, Aldi and Walmart in 31 states, which include Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The bags of cheese have several sell-by dates in February and March of 2026 and include shredded mozzarella, multiple-cheese blend, Italian style shredded cheese blend, shredded pizza-style cheese blend and mozzarella and provolone shredded cheese blend.
