Hundreds of immigrant workers remain in limbo after the Ford government suspended the skilled trades stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program over fraud concerns .
“We’ve spent all of our permits waiting for a decision under false hope that it will be approved,” said Gurpreet Attal, a telecommunication technician from Brantford. “And now the streams dropped without any explanation, any proof of us being fraud.”
Protesters who have gathered outside Queen’s Park for two weeks sent a letter on Nov. 29 expressing their concerns to Labour Minister David Piccini, Premier Doug Ford, Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria, PC MPP Amarjot Sandhu (Brampton West) and PC MPP Hardeep Singh Grewal (Brampton East).
