The Russian culprits behind the attempted murder of Sergei and Yulia Skripal spun a complex web of deception, enabling them to transport a lethal nerve agent thousands of miles before releasing it in Salisbury.
Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov - whose actual identities are Alexander Mishkin and Anatoliy Chepiga - journeyed from Moscow to London carrying Novichok, a Russian poison. They unleashed this deadly substance in Salisbury on 4 March 2018, aiming to eliminate the two ex-agents.
An investigation into the tragic death of Dawn Sturgess, who perished after her partner unknowingly presented her with a perfume bottle containing remnants of the poison, concluded today that Vladimir Putin was "morally responsible".
