Switching the improvement plan for the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Dynamite Boulevard from a roundabout to signalized intersection will not cost the city of Scottsdale $29.29 million.

The Maricopa Association of Government’s Regional Council unanimously approved Nov. 3 its 2026-30 Transportation Improvement Plan, which includes the money for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive.

Scottsdale had the money lined up through a federal grant but lost it when the council voted 4-3 at its April 8 meeting to switch the intersection improvement plan because some of the property owners in the area did not want a roundabout.

Vice Mayor Adam Kwasman and council members Jan Dubauskas, Kathy Littlefield and Barry Graham voted to change it.
