GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Arena League officials announced an expansion into Grand Island this morning, bringing professional football back to the Heartland Event Center.
The new team will be the city’s first since the Nebraska Danger folded in 2019. The league has not announced a name for the team but is asking residents for input on branding. Officials said they will announce the team name in four to six weeks.
Brad Mellema, executive director of the Grand Island Visitor Bureau, said the team will add to the events hosted at Fonner Park.
