Vladimir Putin has vowed Russia will take the territories it set out to in Ukraine by force if Zelensky doesn’t withdraw.
US President Donald Trump had been pushing to see an end to the fighting since Russia launched the full-scale invasion nearly four years ago.
But so far no agreement has been reached, especially over whether Ukraine must give up land to Russia and how it can be kept safe from any future aggression.
The Russian leader said on Thursday the initial US 28-point peace proposal was trimmed to 27 points and split into four packages during tense five hour negotiations this week.
But he emphasised that Russia will fulfil the goals it set and take all of the eastern Donetsk region.
