Just when the Philadelphia Eagles thought things couldn't get any worse, defensive tackle Jalen Carter entered the picture.

On Thursday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the star third-year defensive tackle underwent "a procedure this past Monday on both his shoulders" and will be inactive for Week 14's "Monday Night Football" game against the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4).

"This could easily turn into a multi-week absence," Schefter continued in a follow-up message , while later noting a move to injured reserve is off the table for the time being.

"Carter will be considered week to week," the NFL insider wrote.
