ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Rochester branch of the NAACP is speaking out in support for the Somali community upon ICE Operations officially starting in the Twin Cities.
The NAACP emphasized the negative impact of these actions, saying that it sends a harmful message, one that suggests members of this specific community aren't welcomed in the United States.
In a statement released on Thursday morning, President of the branch, Walé Elegbede said "Racial profiling has no place in a nation governed by the Fourteenth Amendment, which promises equal protection and demands that all people be treated fairly regardless of race, ethnicity, or national origin.”
Elegbede also said that he feels as if it is his duty to let members of the Somali community know that the NAACP will be standing by them thro
