MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A lawsuit filed this week by the Moses Lake School District show the district is seeking to end the teachers strike , which it says is illegal under state law. The strike, which began Monday, follows a breakdown in negotiations over prep time and funding for educational programs.
The lawsuit argues that Washington public employees, including teachers, do not have a legally protected right to strike.
The Washington Attorney General's office spells out the same based on state law .
According to the AG's office, while the law does not spell out specific penalties for participating in an “unlawful strike,” it allows the courts to issue an injunction to stop the work stoppage.
