A strong arctic cold front is making its way through Massachusetts on Thursday, bringing with it the chance for snow showers and squalls.
At around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, National Weather Service forecasters issued a Snow Squall Warning stretching roughly from Lynn to North Tewksbury, Gloucester and Newburyport. The warning expired at 5:30 p.m.
In the immediate hours after the front moves through, northwest wind gusts could reach the 40 to 50 mph range, which will combine with sharply falling temperatures to create wind chills ranging from roughly 10 above zero to 10 below zero.
“This is quite a change in airmass so bundle up in layers if you have plans outdoors tonight!” forecasters wrote.
