(KBTX) - From 1975 to 1977 the Kansas State football program was coached by Ellis Rainsberger, a former offensive lineman for the Wildcats exactly 20 years prior.
Thursday, Kansas State announced the program’s 36th head coach and first former player to hold the position since Rainsberger in Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein.
The former Wildcat quarterback and 2012 Heisman Trophy finalist will be formally introduced at a press conference in Manhattan, Kan. at 4 p.m., but will remain in his position with the Aggies’ through their playoff run, according to a release from the Kansas State athletic department.
He has agreed to a five-year deal that will pay $4.3 million annually in base salary, per to the athletic department.
